Deadliest Catch‘s Josh Harris Cried Watching Dad’s Last Days

A record 5.4 million viewers tuned in Tuesday to Discovery’s crab-fishing reality show Deadliest Catch to see the start of a mournful journey for the family and crew of the “Cornelia Marie.” It was the first of several episodes to chronicle the Jan. 29 stroke and Feb. 9 death of Captain Phil Harris, 53.

“Seeing it all happen again, it freaks me out a little bit,” Harris’s eldest son, Josh, tells PEOPLE. “I can’t tell you how many people just sat there, crying, when we watched this in the bar. I had already seen the footage and I started crying again.”

It’s been a time of transition for Josh, 27, and Jake, 24, as they settle their dad’s affairs and move on with their lives. For the eldest son, “I am going to take care of my family and the six companies that my dad started,” Josh says, “like the coffee company. That was one of his pride and joys, so I’ve got to take that over, along with the boat, and all his endorsements he had.”

The sons are looking to buy their dad’s fishing vessel, the “Cornelia Marie,” outright. “I will try to get it back up and running at full strength, and be the full owner, and my guys can keep their jobs,” Josh says. “I will achieve my goals. One way or another, it will happen. There is no failure in a fisherman.”

For Jake, mourning his dad’s passing has been a tougher challenge. As viewers witnessed this season, Jake had come clean to his father about his drug addiction. “You got to go to treatment, man,” Harris told his son. “At least you’ll have a fighting chance.” The two embraced with Jake, saying quietly, “‘I love you, Pops.’” Then, not long after Harris’s death, Jake was charged with reckless driving.

Josh says his brother has since moved closer to him and is getting better. “He just went through rehab and everything is going real good,” Josh says. “I have my brother back in some aspects. It’s still a battle, though, but we talk about things a lot, decide things together, and he’s thinking a lot more clear-minded.”

While Jake is away fishing at the moment, Josh is trying his best to quit smoking with the help of electronic cigarettes. “It’s one of the hardest battles of my life,” Josh admits. “It’s even harder of a battle than fighting the Bering Sea. But I’m on a wellness kick now, going around the U.S. and promoting health.”

But, come October, Josh and Jake fully expect to be fishing and paying their last tribute to their father. “Yes, we will be releasing the rest of him back into the area where he spent the majority of his life, which is the Bering Sea,” Josh says of their dad’s ashes. “It will be a rough time, but we’ll finally let the rest of him go.”

“Annexed,” A Tale Of Anne Frank’s Fictional Sex Life Angers Frank's Family

A British novelist has angered the family of Anne Frank with a “sexed-up” imagining of her time in hiding from the Nazis.

The teenager documented her experiences during the German occupation of the Netherlands during the Second World War before her death in Bergen Belsen concentration camp aged 15.

Now Sharon Dogar, who specialises in novels for teenagers, has written a book of fictional diaries of Peter van Pels, Anne's close friend who lived in the same building while she was hiding in Amsterdam.

The diaries, which are to be published in the autumn, include graphic accounts of Peter’s desire for Anne and intimate scenes between the two, according to The Sunday Times.

The book has been criticised by Buddy Elias, Anne’s first cousin, who chairs a charity devoted to her memory. The 84-year-old, who lives in Switzerland, used to play with his cousin when they were youngsters.

He said he learnt a lot about her and Peter from Anne’s father Otto, who survived the war and had the diaries published in 1947. Otto died in 1980.

Elias has read an advance copy of Annexed, named after the annexe of the office building where the Frank and van Pels families lived in hiding.

“Anne was not the child she is in this book,” he said. “I also do not think that their terrible destiny should be used to invent some fictitious story.”

“From what Otto told me about Peter, he was very shy but in this book he is given a character he did not possess,” he said.

Anne, who wrote her diary from the summer of 1942, when she had just turned 13, until August 1944, died in Belsen of typhus in March 1945 after being transferred there from Auschwitz.

Charlie Sheppard, editorial director of Andersen Press, the publisher, said that Dogar “feels they had sex, but this was taken out from an earlier version”.

“Sharon reread and reread Anne’s diaries, and is in no doubt that they were in love” she added. “They also talk about sex in the diaries. After all, the hormones of both were raging.”

“From Anne’s diary it is clear that a romance flared up for a few months, during which they probably kissed and cuddled,” said Deborah Moggach, who adapted the diaries for an acclaimed BBC series in 2008. “She then cooled on him.”

Dogar told The Sunday Times she did not want to discuss the book in detail. She said it was “pure conjecture” that Anne and Peter ever made love. She also argued that the most important part of her book is Peter’s time in the Nazi camps.

Orlando Bloom and Girlfriend Miranda Kerr are engaged!!

It's (finally) official -- Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr are engaged, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The couple, who have been dating for almost three years, have dodged multiple engagement rumors throughout their relationship.

In November 2008, the model, 27, and British actor, 33, shot down a report in the Australian media that they were getting married. Six months later, the two kept fans guessing when Kerr was spotted with a sparkler on her left ring finger, though reps at the time had no comment.

When the two recently spent Thanksgiving together in Morocco, Bloom told reporters he and Kerr were "just enjoying our time together now" when asked if they were getting married anytime soon.

"He's a sweetheart and that's all I'm gonna say," Kerr, who has talked about settling down and starting a family in the future, told PEOPLE in February 2008.

"My ideal situation would be to live on a farm in a solar-powered house with a hammock and a vegetable patch," she told Page Six Magazine in 2008. "When this is all over, that's where I'll be. I've always wanted kids, so someday, eventually, yes, it will happen."

The engagement news was first reported by "Entertainment Tonight."
